THE BIG FIVE

There are five serious flaws about statehood:

ONE
The possibility of statehood stands on President McKinley’s 1898 USA annexation law (Newlands Resolution) which, is in no way a treaty of agreement between sovereign nations - so the Kingdom of Hawai`i is legally live and annexation is but a weak contrivance with the 1893 Hawaiian cabal

TWO
The 1959 Hawaiian electorate included a flood of illegal US and mixed foreigners

THREE
Congressional acts and occupational suppression unduly dictated the statehood plebiscite process and result

FOUR
Hawai`i was on the UN List of Non Self Governing Territories - the obligation of the UN for a vote on independence stipulates the principle option of Independence or Free Association but the “Statehood” plebiscite question did not provide it, and even so

FIVE
The ballot question was worded such that it asks if statehood should happen “immediately”, yes or no - in other words a choice of when – i.e. now or a bit later! It was still not a democratic choice to become a US state or to remain a US territory: Congress and President Dwight Eisenhower had decided all intent and purpose on that, three months earlier.
Official Ballot, June27,1959
