Any anniversary of US presence in Hawaiʻi, like the upcoming anniversary
of statehood, is a time of shame and an alert for
reconciliation, not celebration.
Media: Star Bulletin August 25, 2008
It is not inconceivable that soon the Hawaiian government will reclaim Iolani Palace --
yet thankfully, not the way it was taken with U.S. guns and troops in 1893
when international and U.S. domestic law clearly forbade it.

The “State of Hawaii” is coming up on its 50th anniversary of “statehood” next year.
Ordinarily this would be a cause for celebration. But there’s a big problem…
Hawaii is not really a “state” of the United States.

HAWAII CEDED LANDS CASE at the U.S. SUPREME COURT
by Leon Siu -October 1, 2008 /pdf
The State of Hawaii is counting on the U.S. Supreme Court to:

ILLEGAL OVERTHROW
It seems to me that there's an aspect of professional responsibility

STATEHOOD BENEFITS
This is to comment on a letter from Keahi Felix of Keaau. The writer goes on long and stridently about the "theft" of the Kingdom of Hawaii in 1893. I'm curious what this person feels
was lost when Hawaii became a state.

HAWAIIAN RECOVERY

Our starting points clash because facts belong to one, conjectures to another.

HAWAi`i: The 50th STATE of MIND
Hawai`i Public Radio, HPR -Listener's memoirs -submission by Keahi Felix
The so-called Statehood of Hawaii has impacted my life, changed it, modified it so that

straddle the great divide as best I can.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
August 14 by Keahi Kelix
With recognized national sovereignty, Hawaii earned rights of independence and perpetuity and became a player in the economy of nations. Whatever the U.S. did in 1893 or in 1959 did not and does not preempt that status.
August 17 by Bill Blanchard
Keahi Felix, in his [correction: her] interpretation of the history of Hawaii missed a few important facts...
September 12 by Michael Daly
Bill Blanchard does himself and the United States a great disservice in propagating a scenario that because King Kamehameha III died before securing a desired union with the U.S...

DALY ANNOUNCES HUNGER STRIKE on ANNIVERSARY of PEARL HARBOR
By now humans must understand that despite the USA’s massive power, wealth and
influence the government has no authority and that perpetuating such authority
is the problem, not the solution.
